SEND & Inclusion

Statement of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities

At St Oswald’s, together we love, learn, respect, and appreciate

Our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCO), Mrs Gail Furness, leads our staff in supporting children with special education needs and disabilities (SEND).

Our Governor with specific responsibility for SEND is Mrs Sophie Jones.

In June 2025 St Oswald’s was again awarded the ‘Committed to Inclusion’ mark for 2024/25, which demonstrates the positive impact our inclusive practice has had on the pupils in the school.

St Oswald’s is a welcoming, fully inclusive, supportive, and caring Catholic school that offers a broad, well-balanced curriculum for all children irrespective of gender, special needs, disability, language spoken, race, culture, or religion. Guided by faith, we work “to offer excellence in education to all our pupils.” The success and happiness of the children is our priority; recognising that all children are individuals, together we ensure that every child achieves their potential within a happy, healthy, safe and secure environment. Every child in St Oswald’s School is special, valued, and encouraged to contribute to the life of the school.

Led by the SENDCO, Mrs Furness, school staff support all children with additional needs to ensure they can reach their potential, regardless of challenges they may face. Outstanding teaching in our stimulating and inclusive school environment, alongside dedicated support and effective pastoral care for the children and their families, engages all pupils and ensures the best outcomes.

If you wish to discuss any concerns about your child’s progress or development, please speak to your child’s class teacher in the first instance. You may also contact Mrs Furness, our SENDCO, via the school office on 01925 813015 or by e-mail stoswalds_primary@sch.warrington.gov.uk

For pupils, family members, or visitors to the school, there is disabled parking directly outside the school for ease of access. There are also disabled access points and routes through the school building and the school grounds, including the garden area, therefore enabling inclusivity to all provision provided. (See Accessibility Plan 2024-2027).
